KOMY PhoneThe children’s phone that thinks along, plays along and grows along.

A child’s first phone – without open internet, without WhatsApp, without an app store. Your child switches on the KOMY Phone, and Komy is there: a friend who listens, marvels along and needs help rather often. For children aged about 5 to 11.

Good to know: Komy speaks German. His voice, the stories, the encyclopedia, the learning games and the parents’ app are in German – made for children who go to school in Germany or Austria. This page is here so you can decide in your language.

In short: a children’s phone. And a friend.

The KOMY Phone is a children’s phone for children aged about 5 to 11 that manages without open internet, without an app store and without messengers. Inside the phone lives Komy, a friend who listens, marvels along and needs your child’s help – not a tutor, not an answer machine. Plus a whole children’s encyclopedia that works offline. You reach your child by voice message, see that they have arrived safely – and nothing else. When your child outgrows it, you release the device and it becomes a normal smartphone.

Who is it for?

For children aged about 5 to 11 – from the first day of school to the end of primary school. For families who want a first phone that keeps a child reachable without opening the door to WhatsApp, YouTube and TikTok. And for children who could use a friend for growing up.

A friend who needs your help.

Most learning apps ask questions they already know the answer to. Komy doesn’t.

Komy wonders, gets stuck, has forgotten something – and asks your child for help. With exactly what your child is learning right now. Komy never gives the solution. Never. A child who explains something to a friend feels strong. A child who is quizzed feels tested. That is the whole difference – and the KOMY Phone is built on it.

And Komy listens. When your child calls him, the child talks – and Komy nods, says “Mhm” and “And then?” for as long as the child likes.

quizzing grading comparing

There are two Komys. Your child picks one – and the very first thing is giving him a name. From then on the two are friends. Komy speaks with his own voice, even without the internet. The voice is synthetic; what Komy says was written and checked beforehand.

The two Komys side by side: a boy with a shock of orange hair and blue ear rings, a girl with long hair, a bow and pink ear rings. Both wear the white suit with the KOMY badge.
“Hey, ich hab noch gar keinen Namen. Kannst du mir vielleicht einen geben?” – Hey, I don’t have a name yet. Could you give me one?

Say something, Komy!

Pick a beginning, a word and an ending, step by step – and Komy says the sentence, in German. This is exactly how he speaks on the child’s phone: from building blocks created and checked in advance, without the internet.

Your sentence appears here.

Komy asks about what your child likes – never for the right answer. Switch the voice at the top right of the picture: boy or girl.

From getting up to good night.

The KOMY Phone is not a game you switch on. Komy is there all day – and brings up each moment exactly when it is due. Never as an order, always as an invitation.

  1. Morning

    Komy gets up too

The alarm clock is Komy, sitting up and stretching. Then it goes step by step: get dressed, teeth, breakfast, school bag. If there is PE today, Komy reminds your child of the sports kit. And he knows which subjects are on today.

  2. At school

    School mode

During lessons the phone goes quiet: only the clock, the next lesson and Komy, waiting. Games and reading pause by themselves – the timetable knows when. The SOS button stays.

  3. Afternoon

    Talking, homework, discovering

“How was your day?” – Komy listens for as long as your child wants to talk. Then a small invitation to do homework. And after that: reading aloud, geography, learning the clock, building words. Out of curiosity, not duty.

  4. At home

    Chores and stars

Tidying the room, emptying the dishwasher, laying the table – in KOMY Phone – Eltern you decide what a chore is worth. Your child collects stars and redeems them for a reward you agreed on together. Stars celebrate pitching in – nothing is graded.

  5. Evening

    Ready for tomorrow

Get things ready for tomorrow, brush teeth, pyjamas on. Then you look at the Magic Sky, where every good moment of the day shines as a star – and Komy says good night. By name.

Anyone who walks away in between simply carries on later. Komy always shows exactly one next step – not “What is still missing?” but “This comes now”. That turns commotion into a ritual your child will soon run through alone.

A story to listen to.

Komy carries a hundred little stories – from the alarm clock that overslept to the mountain of socks. He tells them, asks nothing afterwards and loves to listen when your child makes one up. The samples here are in German, just as on the phone.

a good minute long
Voice:

The Magic Sky.

Every shared moment becomes a star in your child’s night sky. Stars gather into constellations – and Komy remembers. Tap the stars.

“Will you read to me?”

Your child reads aloud, and Komy listens like an enthusiastic friend. If a word is tricky, Komy doesn’t know it either – “Read it to me again, slowly?” The moment of getting it belongs to your child.

Stars that remember

Komy remembers the first book read aloud, the day you found home on the map – and brings it up again some time. “Do you remember?”

Discovering together

Geography with Komy: your own home, the way to school, the points of the compass. Plus the learning games: maths memory, spelling, the clock game, word workshop, the der-die-das sorter, syllable clapping, rhyme hunter and the weather frog – played out of curiosity. When something is hard, there is patience instead of red crosses.

And what Komy never does: grade, test, compare. The KOMY Phone has no scores about children, no rankings and no performance reports. Not hidden in the settings – simply never built.

There is nothing to filter.

Other children’s phones are full smartphones that are filtered with software and a monthly fee. The KOMY Phone lacks what would need filtering: no browser, no app store, no social media, no messaging. A real smartphone, prepared and locked down by us before it reaches you – unpack, connect, done.

What it can’t do

  • No open internet, no browser, no app store
  • No social media, no ads, no purchases
  • No strangers – nobody reaches your child but you
  • No calls and no messages – only the emergency number 112 and voice messages with you
  • No AI chatbot – no language model runs on the phone
  • No camera for the child, no image recognition
  • No breaking out – not by restarting or resetting either

What it can do

  • Voice messages from Mum and Dad

You speak into KOMY Phone – Eltern. Komy says “Mum has sent you something” – and your child answers at the press of a button. Encrypted, only between your devices.

  • SOS button

Hold for three seconds – you are told at once, with the location. And Komy stays with the child: “Mum and Dad know. I’m staying with you.”

  • Safe places

Home, school, Grandma’s – you learn when your child arrives or leaves. The parents’ app shows the current place, not a trail of the day.

  • School mode, alarm clock, timetable

During lessons the phone goes quiet by itself – the timetable knows when. Komy wakes your child in the morning. You simply photograph the timetable.

  • Emergency call 112 – always

Reachable from every screen, in school mode too. The only number the child’s phone can call.

  • Everything important works offline

The encyclopedia, 100 stories, 14 learning games, Komy’s voice, timetable and alarm clock are stored on the phone – on the train, in the basement, on holiday.

Device

Samsung Galaxy A07 (SM-A075F/DS), 6.7″ display, 5,000 mAh battery

Pairing

KOMY Phone – Eltern scans the code on the child’s phone – the devices know each other, nobody else does

Parent access

The Komy code: four pictures in the right order instead of a PIN a child picks up by watching

Data SIM

Included and already inserted – or you use your own data SIM

The child’s phone connects to the KOMY service only – one clearly limited line instead of the open internet. If the phone is lost, you lock it from KOMY Phone – Eltern and later bring Komy’s memory back onto a new one. The app KOMY Phone – Eltern is free on Google Play.

Curiosity knows no limits.

The KOMY Phone holds a whole children’s encyclopedia to browse – 5,107 articles in German, without the internet. Not a chatbot that makes up answers, but a checked encyclopedia for children, edited by adults.

  • Two encyclopedias in one. The complete Klexikon with 3,527 articles and the MiniKlexikon with 1,580 articles in simpler language. Which texts your child sees follows their reading level.
  • Twelve fields of knowledge with their own picture tiles – geography, animals and nature, science and technology, history and eight more. Links lead from article to article.
  • A search that forgives typos. Type “Elefand” and you find the Elefant. And if you don’t know what you are looking for, press “Zeig mir was!” – show me something.
  • You decide about sensitive topics. War and violence, death, body and sexuality, addiction, crime – about 150 articles stay invisible until you switch them on in KOMY Phone – Eltern.
  • It is your child’s own book. Komy never reads from it and never answers with it. And what your child looks up is not recorded.

Not a throw-away device. It grows along.

At some point every child outgrows Komy. Then you don’t buy a second phone: you release the KOMY Phone, and the child’s phone becomes a perfectly normal smartphone. The device belongs to you, not to us.

  1. 1Today: the KOMY Phone

A Samsung Galaxy A07 that shows only Komy’s world. No browser, no store, nothing to filter.

  2. 2Later: you release it

In the settings, with your Komy code – “Gerät freigeben” (release device). You decide that, not us and not the child.

  3. 3After that: a normal Android phone

All apps, normal home screen, no locks. Samsung promises six Android upgrades and six years of security updates for the Galaxy A07.

On release, what your child did with Komy is deleted from the phone; the encrypted backup on your parent phone stays. You cancel the KOMY service separately via “Cancel contracts here”. The step cannot be undone on the phone. The release is part of every KOMY Phone we deliver.

What your child says belongs to your child.

A microphone in a child’s room is a matter of trust. That is why privacy on the KOMY Phone is not a setting but the way it is built – and we say exactly what is stored where.

What your child does with Komy stays on the phone

The memory book from reading aloud, the Magic Sky, the child’s own stories, the game progress: encrypted on the child’s phone, only there. There is no cloud account for your child. The only copy is an encrypted backup on your own parent phone.

The voice never leaves the phone

When Komy listens, the phone recognises single words from a fixed list – on the device, discarded at once. No recording, no file, no upload. Your child’s voice is not raw material.

What leaves the phone – and to whom

The location goes to your parents’ app, via Google Firebase. At night on Wi-Fi the phone sends a short text to our own server so that Komy’s reminders for tomorrow can be phrased and voiced: first name, weekday, subjects, appointment titles. The weather is requested with the place you chose – never with the child’s position.

Joy instead of logs, no contract

You see what is going well and that your child is safe: chore done, reading time happened today, arrived at school. What your child tells Komy, you don’t see. And there is no minimum term: the service can be cancelled monthly.

What parents ask us before buying.

Short answers, each complete in itself – also as a page of its own. Is one missing? Write to me@sysea.de.

Does Komy speak English?

No – Komy speaks German, and so do the stories, the encyclopedia, the learning games and the parents’ app KOMY Phone – Eltern. The KOMY Phone is made for children who go to school in Germany or Austria and live their day in German. Contract language, terms and support are German as well; we are happy to answer e-mails in English.

What age is the KOMY Phone meant for?

The KOMY Phone is meant for children aged about 5 to 11. The morning routine, the timetable, the learning games and Komy’s stories are tailored to these years; younger siblings like to listen in, older children usually want more phone than the KOMY Phone allows.

Can my child make phone calls with it, and to whom?

No, the KOMY Phone does not make calls – the only number it can dial is the emergency number 112. Your child stays in touch with you through voice messages: you speak into KOMY Phone – Eltern, Komy says “Mum has sent you something”, and your child answers at the press of a button. Strangers cannot reach the child.

Does WhatsApp, YouTube, TikTok or an app store work?

No. There is no browser, no app store, no WhatsApp, YouTube or TikTok, no advertising and no purchases – and this cannot be bypassed by restarting or resetting. That is intentional: a children’s phone should keep a child reachable and bring a friend along, not open the door to the whole internet.

Can my child look things up?

Yes – the KOMY Phone holds a whole children’s encyclopedia that works without the internet: 5,107 articles in German from the Klexikon and the MiniKlexikon, in twelve fields of knowledge, with a search that forgives typos. It is not a chatbot that makes up answers but a checked encyclopedia edited by adults; beginning readers get the simpler MiniKlexikon texts. Sensitive topics – war and violence, death, body and sexuality, addiction, crime – stay invisible until you switch them on in the parents’ app, and what your child looks up is not recorded. Content from the Klexikon and MiniKlexikon of the Zentrale für Unterrichtsmedien (ZUM), licence CC BY-SA; the Klexikon is an independent project, Sysea is not affiliated with ZUM.

What is Komy – and is it an AI that listens in on my child?

Komy is a companion, not a chatbot: no language model runs on the phone. Komy’s voice is synthetic; what Komy says was written in advance, checked by a human and stored on the phone as audio. What your child tells Komy is not recorded and not uploaded. Komy gives no answers, does not grade and does not quiz – he is the friend who needs your child’s help.

What does the KOMY Phone cost in total in the first year?

In the first year the KOMY Phone with data SIM costs €229: €169 once for the phone at the launch price plus €60 for one year of the KOMY service. Paid monthly it is €169 plus €5.99 a month. From the second year only €60 a year is due, or €49 with your own data SIM. Shipping to Germany and Austria is included.

Do I need a mobile contract? Can I use my own SIM?

No, you do not need a mobile contract. A data SIM is already in the device and included in the KOMY service; the service has no minimum term and can be cancelled monthly. If you prefer to use your own data SIM, the service costs €4.99 a month or €49 a year.

Which device is behind it?

The KOMY Phone is a Samsung Galaxy A07 (SM-A075F/DS) running Android: 6.7-inch display, 5,000 mAh battery. We set it up completely before shipping and lock it down so that only Komy’s world runs on it – unpack, pair with KOMY Phone – Eltern, done.

What happens when my child outgrows the KOMY Phone?

You release the phone in the settings, with your Komy code. After that it is a perfectly normal Android phone: all apps, normal home screen, no locks – the device belongs to you, not to us. On release, what your child did with Komy is deleted from the phone; the backup on your parent phone stays, you cancel the KOMY service separately, and the step cannot be undone on the phone. Samsung promises six Android upgrades and six years of security updates for the Galaxy A07.

How is it different from Google Family Link or a parental control app?

Family Link and parental control apps restrict a normal smartphone after the fact – browser, store and accounts remain and can be bypassed with time and patience. On the KOMY Phone there is nothing to filter: no browser, no store, no messengers and no account your child would have to create or maintain on the internet; you have nothing to manage. Instead it brings Komy, a friend who accompanies the day – and when your child outgrows it, you release the device and it becomes a normal smartphone.

What does the parents’ app see – and what does it deliberately not see?

KOMY Phone – Eltern shows you that your child is fine: the chore is done, reading time happened today, the child has arrived at school, the battery is full. It does not show what your child tells Komy, and no trail of the day – you see the current place and learn when a safe place is reached or left.

Where is the data stored? Where is the server?

What your child does with Komy – memory book, stories, game progress – is stored encrypted on the child’s phone; there is no cloud account for the child, and the only copy is an encrypted backup on your parent phone. What leaves the phone: the location (to your parents’ app, via Google Firebase in the EU region), at night on Wi-Fi a short text with first name, weekday, subjects and appointment titles to our own server in Germany so that Komy’s reminders can be voiced, and the weather request with the place you chose. Nothing of the child’s voice leaves the phone. All services involved are named in the privacy policy of the KOMY service.

May the child take it to school?

That is what school mode is for: during lessons the phone goes quiet by itself – only the clock, the next lesson and Komy, waiting; games and reading pause, the SOS button stays. Whether a phone is allowed in the school bag is up to each school – best to ask briefly.

What happens if the phone is lost?

You lock the phone from KOMY Phone – Eltern: it then shows only a neutral screen, Komy’s data is sealed. If it turns up again, you unlock it; if it does not come back, you restore Komy’s memory from the encrypted backup on your phone onto a new KOMY Phone.

Where do you deliver, and how long can I withdraw?

We deliver to Germany and Austria, shipping is included in the price. As a consumer you can withdraw from the order within 14 days of receipt without giving reasons; the phone goes back, you get the purchase price refunded.

What happens after cancelling the KOMY service?

The KOMY service ends at the end of the current billing period, the phone remains your property. Without the service, the data SIM, voice messages, safe places and updates end; what works offline – Komy’s voice, the stories, the games, the morning routine – stays on the phone. You can cancel at any time via the cancellation button on this site.

A price families can afford.

You buy the KOMY Phone once. The KOMY service – Komy’s voice, the app KOMY Phone – Eltern, updates and the data plan – costs little per month and can be cancelled at any time. No contract, no minimum term.
