The KOMY Phone does not come from a corporation but from a small software company in central Hesse. Here is who we are, why the KOMY Phone exists and how to reach us.

Sysea

Sysea is the software company of Markus Ealy in Laubach, a small town in the Vogelsberg hills between Gießen and Fulda. For years we have been building software for online shops and businesses. The KOMY Phone is our first product for families – and the one with the most heart in it.

Why the KOMY Phone exists

Sooner or later every family faces the question of the first phone. The child should be reachable and allowed to walk to school alone – but not with the whole internet in their pocket, not with messages from strangers, not with an app that rates them constantly. The usual answers are a normal smartphone with a lock added afterwards, which can be bypassed with patience, or a button phone a child has no use for.

We wanted a third option: a phone built for a child from the start, and inside it a friend who grows along. Not a tutor who quizzes, but Komy – the one who needs help. A child who explains something to a friend feels strong. That is the whole idea.

Our rules

  • Komy is never an answer machine. He does not grade, test or compare. That is not in the settings; it was simply never built.
  • What your child does with Komy belongs to the child. It stays on the child’s phone; the only copy is encrypted with you, and there is no cloud account for the child. What does leave the phone – location to your app, a short text to our server at night – is stated openly on the page For parents.
  • No open internet. No browser, no store, no messenger – and no way around that.
  • Honest about where we are. What is not finished yet is on the page How it is built, not in the small print.
